Does the sun shine in Boulder, Colorado? I've been twice, but only at night. Surely in the light, Boulder is a beautiful place to behold, but in the dark I was filled with a nagging dread. Though invisible, the lofty mountains nearby seemed to surround and loom over me, threatening to fall upon my head at any moment. There's a similar aura of impending doom in the music of the Very Hush Hush (TVHH). Their songs ascend to insurmountable heights, only to crash down around your ears. I mentioned Boulder in the first sentence as this was the home of TVHH (they've since moved to Oakland, California). They released first full-length record, Mourir C'est Facile (which translates to Dying is Easy) early last year on Sao Bento Music. Unlike the rest of the world, they won't be playing SXSW this year; I can't find any dates for them in 2006, but if they do come around I'll be there.
