Daily Hyperbole: Two Songs I Can't Get Over
The Clientele - "Since K Got Over Me" (MP3): Pitchfork praised this track today, the first single from The Clientele's new record Strange Geometry. Believe me, it's a good as Joe Tangari makes it sound. Yes, it's a perfect blast of summer pop, but it has enough afternoon angst to carry over into the early days of fall.

Rogue Wave - "10:1" (MP3): You'll soon start hearing the buzz about Rogue Wave's new album Descended Like Vultures. Hear me now and believe me later, it's as good as everyone says or will say. Better even. "10:1" is the record's first single. It jumps off the line with a stomping organ/drum combination that's head-bobbing good. Zach Rogue's vocals are masked behind a wall of echo and noise. There's lots of tasty noise on this track actually. It starts to unravel around the 2:30 point when the church bells start chiming and someone plays with the pitch control on Zach's vocals. What a mess.
