From the Inbox: Group Sounds
I've been neglecting to mention an interesting track that was recently emailed to One Louder. Feeling buried under a mountain of new music to hear, we often let the songs waiting in our inbox slip through the cracks. If you've emailed us, we really appreciate it. We try to give everything at least one listen. Of course, if we really like something, our thoughts will show up here.
With residencies at Sin-e (June) and Pianos (August), and judging from the EP they sent us, you'll be hearing a lot about
Group Sounds. Their brash take on 80's synth pop may be a ubiquitous sound these days, but this short track from the EP,
"Business Before Pleasure" (MP3), is just plain fun. It's got enough surprises and energy to make you hit the repeat button a few times and maybe even dance a little. If no one's watching.
Also available for download from the Group Sounds web site:
"Things Fall Apart" (MP3).
Tomorrow night, June 14, is the first night of Group Sounds' Sin-e residency. Things get started at 10 PM and Red Stripes are just $2 between 9-11 PM.
