So Air put on a great show last night at Hammerstein. I wasn't sure how they would pull off a live show, but I was still surprised to see only 4 people on stage - I expected a larger backing band. The show didn't suffer at all though, as the stripped down arrangements still sounded very full. The band was at their best when they rocked out, most noticeably on the insane extended "La Femme D'Argent" (which closed the show) and "Run". "People in the City" and "Talisman" also were great. The only weakpoints were "Alpha Beta Gaga" and "Biological" from the new album, both of which suffered without the banjo used on album. But I enjoyed it all, old and new.

The show also convinced me that the first mezzanine is the best spot at Hammerstein. Hard to beat a clear view and a seat overlooking the packed floor.
